Now a city-based sports promoter – Red Corner Sports Promotions – is bringing the live action to the city in the form of Club Fights where 16 professional boxers will fight it out in front of the Hyderabad crowd.

Club Fights take a new turn
“The city of Hyderabad and the erstwhile combined State had a glorious past with top boxers in 80s and 90s. But now we are struggling to win medals at the nationals in the last eight to nine years. Only Nikhat Zareen is representing the State while there are none in boys section. So I feel these pro boxing fights are very important to promote the game in youth. It has that agility, fast-paced action and if people watch it live, they will definitely like it. It is important to promote the game in children especially,” he said throwing his weight behind the league.
He is also of the opinion that if they can pull a huge crowd in, the game will grow manifold in the times to come.
Kailash Yadav, the promoter of the Club Fights, added that the culture of pro boxing is popular in the west. “It is famous in cities like Los Vegas and New York in US. We are bringing this event to Hyderabad as it has the sporting culture and it played a key role in the past with so many national champions and international boxers from this region. This event too has international boxers in Asian medallist and junior champions. The boxers from Bhopal, New Delhi, Hyderabad and other parts of the country will be competing for the top honours,” he revealed.
