JNTUH – Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University, Hyderabad, has made it mandatory for the faculty members to submit their genuineness certificate along with their hard copy of the degree, to differentiate between faculty with original and fake PhD degrees.
The provision for uploading their PhD details will be given only to those faculty members whose details are successfully verified, cleared by Varsity.
“The faculty members of all affiliated colleges are hereby informed that the University is providing an opportunity to the faculty for uploading their PhD details.

Only after the successful verifications of hard copy of the PhD degree along with genuineness certificate obtained from the respective University, provision for uploading the phD details will be given, “read the instructions issued by the Varsity to colleges and faculty.
JNTUH Rules for submitting the certificates
Before March 30, faculty members have to submit the hard copy and genuineness certificates even if they have already uploaded their PhD details.
“The uploaded PhD certificate will not be considered if a faculty member fails to submit the mentioned certificates, “said N Yadaiah, JNTUH- registrar.
In previous academic year, the allegations were made that half of the PhD holders working in JNTUH – affiliated colleges have invalid degrees.
M Suresh Babu, who worked as a professor for more than two decades in private engineering college alleged- “Awhopping 48% of faculty working under JNTUH did their PhD from private or fake universities”.
He said to get degree some candidates pay money.
In 2018, close to 100 faculty members summoned for certificate verification due to probe launched by JNTUH into fake PhD’s scam.
The minimum stipulated time is more than three years for PhD but it was found that some PhD’s were completed within one-and-a half year or two years.
The officials also founded that some candidates did not produce a thesis and others who had a thesis had no valid signature of the guide on it.
