The Ministry of Human Resource Development on Thursday announced that The University of Hyderabad (UoH) had received the Institution of Eminence status. The declared was held along with the other four universities.
Also, the University Grants Commission has suggested the University of Hyderabad for granting the IoE status and uplift top and shortlisted institutions in the top 100 to 500 rankings in the coming next 10 years. Though the MHRD completed the declaration in New Delhi, the University of Hyderabad is pending to receive its Letter of intent.
With this scheme, there will be over Rs 1,000 crore financial assistance obtained for five years. Similar to other institutions, the University of Hyderabad, with its efficient plans, has to make use of the funds on campus.
The vice-chancellor, Appa Rao Podile has stated that “The IoE status will definitely help us boost the academics and Apart from the financial funding, we will be allowed to admit foreign students, offer online courses, etc. We will be entitled to all the privileges that are outlined in the scheme.”
Also, with the status obtained, the university is confident to be listed in one of the top 200 universities in the world in 5 years. IoE is also awarded for Delhi University, Hindu University, Banaras Hindu University, Indian Institute of Technology, Madras and Indian Institute of Kharagpur.
